This morning one of 'the ads that pay for hulu' featured Keytruda (brand-name for the drug pembrolizumab) that spent 70-80% of the ad listing side-effects. (The anti-cancer immunotherapy still has fewer side-effects than chemotherapy, but still ...) I went to try to find out where those words came from, and--tho I did find out a little bit about 'how it works' (basically, it negates the 'don't eat me'-signal that cancer-cells use to keep away from your immune-cells) and saw that former-President Jimmy Carter uses it to keep his cancer in remission--the articles all just said doctors "found Keytruda (pembrolizumab)"---never 'they called it Keytruda or pembrolizumab because ...' Do you know? And--if you don't know--any guesses?

Cancer immunotherapies can have some mind-boggling names. But there’s a reason for it all.
