Your purpose determines whether your action is good or bad?

This is my personal opinion. I'm not in a position to judge other people because I'm not perfect myself. But I believe that the goodness or badness of a person's actions depends on his/her purpose.
An example is when a person gives to the poor with the purpose of having himself photographed and written in the news as a philanthropist. He may be doing something 'good' but it's not really good because his goal is not good or pure.
What do you think? Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

So true. But sometimes the purpose is neglected and the actions get badly blamed.

Yes! I am getting you what you want to imply! I know many people who want publicity and to gain it they try to fake the act of charity.
A person who really wants to help other or share something for the sake of humanity will never disclose about his deeds and creates a propaganda about it!
Some people are silently helping the needy but they never let others know about it!
So in my opinion there shouldn't be any purpose in helping the needy in our life!
