Day 31
Promise 489
Luke 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (KJV)
What causes you awe and amazement? The world is full of many amazing things. People entertain you with illusions that make you wonder how they did what they do.
Jesus sent seventy people out and told them to preach the gospel, heal the sick, and cast out demons. When they returned, they told Jesus what happened when they did what He instructed them awed and joyful of what they accomplished in His name.
Jesus told them not to be amazed by what they did, and how the spirits were subject to them, but rejoice because their names were written in heaven.
As Christians, you know your names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Yet when you hear how God works in the lives and hearts of people, you stand amazed. When you do what God called you to do and the people respond, you stand amazed. God will always honor His Word. Your amazement should be joy when you see God work through you in the lives and hearts of the people to whom you minister.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Jesus called you to go to the nations, to preach the good news of the kingdom of God, to heal the sick, to give hope and comfort to the broken-hearted, and let the world know He is coming back.
Your awe and amazement shouldn’t be in what the Holy Spirit did in the lives of the people to whom you ministered and preached the gospel. It should be in the fact your names are written in the book of heaven, the Lamb’s Book of Life. God will always honor His Word.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word be in me as a fire going out to whoever You send me. Let it bring life to the hearer and salvation to all those who hear Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
