Have you seen the peaceful demonstrators in Belarus subdued and beaten?
Whoooaaah. Such strange behavior for police who were supposed to serve and protect the people.
Unfortunately, the same scenarios have happened, and still happening, in the streets of New York, and elsewhere else.
Which brings to mind a story that happened during the Philippine Revolution of 1986. The cops did reign rude and raw towards the demonstrators who called for the resignation of a dictator. The people persisted till two million gathered at the avenues crisscrossing two camps - the police and the military. When the dictator ordered to drop bombs and annihilate the people, the air force did fly but hesitated - 'My mother's down there, and my father, and my siblings, how can I kill my own family?' So, the pilot passed and later threw in the white towel of surrender. He surrendered to the people.
Thus, a bloodless revolution.
To the cops cold and crazy, would you really beat your father? Your brother? Your own mother and sisters?

The 'obey first before you complain' is ingrained in their being, as policemen. It is difficult for them to express personal opinions. This concept is taken advantage of by the despots. The despots pamper the police, too, with lots of benefits, so these police will remain loyal to the tyrants.

@amitkokiladitya It is.
My cousins are blind followers to a tyrant, too.
