So. If you've been reading my posts for awhile, you know that I am very good at something. I am very very good at starting a series of posts, and then never finishing them. There are only two "series" that I have managed to keep up with long term. And surprisingly enough, I have kept up with them for YEARS. I started the "Frugal Shopping" and "Frugal Cooking",- although I have kind of transitioned the "Frugal Cooking" series into "A Year of Dinners" at the start of this year but that's beside the point- in 2016 or so. Anyway, I had an idea a couple minutes ago to do a series of movies, that I feel like had an impact or affected me as a teen and kid. So without further ado, here we go. I am a ninties baby. I was born in 1990, so I remember most of the 90's movies, fads, etc. So it should be no surprise that A Walk To Remember had an impact on me. If you are unfamiliar with this particular movie, it is probably one of the mushiest movies I will actually sit down and watch. I am not a girly movie type of person. It centers around a goody two shoes, preachers kids who is picked on for her conservative values, the way she dresses etc. She befriends the school bad boy, and tells him not to fall in love with her. He laughs it off, as all the bad boys do in these movies. Anyway, long story short he gets in some sort of trouble and has to do a play, in which little miss goody two shoes is also in. He falls in love with her. There's some other things, that I'd rather not tell you, because it ruins the movie. Mandy Moore and Shane West are the stars, which at that time they were pretty popular. It's based on a book written by Nicholas Sparks. I have read almost all of Sparks books, because they were set in North Carolina and I spent a lot of time in North Carolina when I was a kid. Maybe it's because I grew up going to church, or because I just liked the book because I knew where everything was because of where it took place. But I can remember watching this movie hundreds of times during my pre-teen and teen years. Have you ever seen A Walk to Remember? Or better yet, have you read the book?

I read the book, The book was set in the 1950's and Jamie was strawberry blond instead of brunette.

@thislittlepennyearns Jamie was also not bullied for being a Christian so the "Virgin Mary" scene is not on the book. Everyone are Christians since its the 50's.

@CaptAlbertWhisker No. That's where you are wrong. She was still bullied for being so religious in the book.

Well those are little details. That doesn't really affect the story.

I have to say, I have. I don't want to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it, but it's one of the few movies I've seen that can actually strike a nerve. Not in a bad way, of course. Though, I have to say, if a movie can strike some kind of emotion in you. Be it good or bad, it's a movie worth watching. One that's really well done, too.

Did y'all get hit by the storm at all? And it effects me the same way as Fault in Our Stars does.

@thislittlepennyearns I've been getting rain here off and on for days. Got caught in a nasty bout, just today. My husband thinks we might get more. From the sound of it... he's right. Can't say I've heard of that one.

@kaylachan It rained from Monday until late yesterday. It then rained a little bit today, but nothing like we were getting. I posted yesterday about the damage on our street. It washed out. It's based on a John Green book, about two kids who have cancer who meet in a support group for teens with cancer. Super good movie.

The decade you were born into is stellar for movies - from Disney to high action drama. What can I say, you grew up with Ariel, the Lion King, Toy Story, and eventually Harry Potter and the Pirates of the Caribbean, side by side with Air Force One, and of course, this chick flick love story to shed tears in the night. You are right, A Walk to Remember is a movie deserving viewing again, to cherish how love could be genuine, never shallow, never to be taken for granted. Good post.

@thislittlepennyearns Blockbuster movies often get to have sequels. As it happens, the producers have come to adapt the three part installment called trilogy. That is why there is a Back to the Future 1, 2 and 3. Fans seem not to have enough of characters, thus there is Rocky 1,2,3,4,5. Star Wars has 3 trilogies. Sigh. Air Force One is a Harrison Ford starrer. It is the precursor to White House Down and Olympus Has Fallen. Olympus Has Fallen has turned into a trilogy, too, with London Has Fallen and Angel Has Fallen.

Yeah the Pirates movies were good first two, maybe three. Then the plot line was watered down and it just wasn't any good. Harry Potter of course, that was the biggest series of my childhood. I've never seen Air Force One, and if I did I don't remember it.

@Tina30219 He's got some pretty good books. If you liked the notebook, you should read the wedding. Same story, just a prequel

I cry every time I watch that movie so never read the book but this was the first Nicholas Sparks books Made into a movie that I watched before diving into my years with the Notebook. I believe I was in middle school when the movie came out. My friend and I saw it in the theaters and cried my eyes out at the end.

@thislittlepennyearns I haven’t read that one yet. I’m kind of behind in reading I have several books but just have had enough time since school started. I’m trying to be a better reader in front of the kids to help encourage good healthy reading habits.

The Wedding is better than The Notebook, it's the prequel.
