No it is not about Language study. Nor linguistics. And no way for any grammar etc.. Well, the fact is that I do not seem to know many plants - what name they have. At times I try to find its English name snd sometimes Hindi. Yet I know that our Capsicum plant (Hindi: Shimla mirch) is likely to do good! Yet for others, I do not seem to have caught a right aptitude. May be I would need to devote some time. Time to sleep now...

@DianneN No what I actually meant was that in case of some plants, I know the name in one language and I try to know the name in another language to gain more familiarity. In some cases, I am not aware of the name in any language !!

@DianneN Yeah with names like "Herbicoscus Lapsouemates..." not many would have fun ( I just invented that spelling - any resemblance of anything real is purely coincidental).

You are not alone l am terrible with names of some plants and trees. A few years ago l remember holidaying with some friends. When the lady liked a plant l made up some nonsense latin name for it then told her in English it was a gladioli or aspidistra. I was lording it when she was in awe of my knowledge until she caught on and gave me a swift punch. She still reminds me of it from time to time! Hilarious!

Knowing the names and other characteristics of plants is nice, but the main thing is knowing how to enjoy them.

It is easy to identify if you have the photo.

I think you have to include a photo of the plant if you want to know the name of the plant.
