The bible says we are to worship with others so that we can encourage each other. I think praying in the house pleases God-sure! But He wants you to experience all the great things He has for you, including fellowship with other christians. It just makes us stronger in our faith walk.

Very true but it is not REQUIRED for you to be a Christian. I would certainly recommend it!

A Christian shouldn't have to go anywhere special to pray or pay respects to God, dont they say 'God is everywhere'

Are you talk about the girl called Keer Lan? I'm a Chinese, in China, Most news said it is a Mysterious Case. And there is nothing about this thing's truth. I want to know the fact, and I find the answer in there. Could somebody tell me something? To be honest, I feel very nervous, because my english is very bad. I hope anybody can indicate my mistakes, thanks.

I think what is of MOST importance is not where one prays, it is how one lives their life! I know a great many people who claim to be Christian, yet, live their lives like heathens. Let your actions speak for themselves and live your Christianity!

A clarification first, the church is not a physical building, in Greek the church is ekklesia, composed of ek (out) and kaleo (called) which means the gathering of the called-out ones, or the called-out assembly. We do not go to church, we are the church and we go to the church meetings. After reading all the above posts, I feel that all the reasons stated are quite self-centered: for salvation (although attending meetings is not the requirement for salvation), for personal edification, purification, gaining blessings, help, strengthens and preserves one's spiritual life, etc. Some would not even attend because of seeing the imperfections of others (By the way, there is no perfect church because it becomes imperfect once you join in.) Some attend just for conscience's sake to fulfill a duty since it is the Lord's commandment (Heb. 10:25). Of course, there are others who attend with impure motives, for commerce, for reunions, for courtship, for political gain, for welfare benefits, for the food, for education, for entertainment, etc. But the most important reason every Christian should realize is that GOD NEEDS THE CHURCH, He obtained the church through His own blood (Acs 20:28). Without Christians meeting together, there will not be the practical expression of the church. In other words, if Christians would not gather together, no one will be able to see the church. God needs Christians to join themselves together to build up His church (Matt. 16:18, Eph. 4:16). May we love the church in the same way God loves the church.

They should have at least once every week. The church required their flocks to come to church every Sunday which is when God has taken a rest after the creation.

It is upto the individual. Nothing should be compulsory. In Hinduism going to Temple is not mandatory, it is optional.

even if a person goes or does not go 2 church ! ...all that matters is his faith and belief in his own soul ! ...and also the belief in the force he calls as god ! :)

I feel it is very important if you're a Christian to attend a local assembly or body of believers who believe as you do. This helps give you a chance to listen to a Pastor who cares about you, sharing Gods word for you in your life, and a place to fellowship with others.

Church is suppose to develop friendship with other christians and also accountability as well. It helps us walk strong when we are grounded with others but we also should be praying at home too. Both are needed but i dont think that chuch is mandatory but it helps.

What I believe is, the entire religion is based on two things. Love thy neighbor same way you love yourself and have faith in the Lord. So if you love your neighbor you will not do any bad thing plus if you have faith in the Lord also the same thing. If you are helpful, behave according to your conscience and believe in God, I personally think going to church is another routine thing, which even if you ignore will not do any harm.

Yes - Reasons? * Another opportunity to praise God * God did say to join in numbers to praise Him * Fellowship with Christians * Opportunity to learn something new * Inspiration * Meeting someone from the past, or who can be interesting in the future * Last but not least - it is a commandment.

I'm sure alot of people may disagree with me, but I don't feel you have to go to church to believe in God. I know alot of people including myself that believe in God and don't go to Church every Sunday.

A Christian should attend church because, you need to fellowship with other believers. To keep you focused on Christ. Praying in the house will not be enough I think that the enemy can come in easily distract you.
