Wildfire scare last night!

I was listening to jazz music yesterday evening on an FM station out of Sacramento. I was working on my book and MyLotting. I did not take out my guitars, as I had played the night before and wanted to give my fingers a rest. When I heard the dissonant sound of the Warning System, I assumed it was "just a test." When I heard that evacuations were being ordered for several counties, I froze and listened. My country was NOT among those listed. I noted that I COULD smell smoke, but I also noted that this was a Sacramento radio station, so the new fires were probably 60 miles to the Northeast of my house. Today, the smell of smoke is strong, but I don't think I'm in any immediate danger. It reminded me of the tornado warnings we used to get on TV when I was growing up in Chicago. I'd listen closely to the counties mentioned. Cook County was mentioned less often than the suburban counties to the South and the West. I'll attach a picture of a wildfire that came fairly close to my house, but stopped at the peak of Mt. Diablo, maybe 10 miles away.

We have these threats of riots in town, so I'm always packed and ready to go. I understand what "wildfire season" is like now.

Riots? What's there to riot about? It's lime for lively and intellectual political debate. The elections are coming soon!

I was scared for a moment. But Sacramento is on the other side of the "Delta" wetlands from us. Hopefully we'll be protected. I hope my music friends in Sacramento are OK.
