Day 53 Promise 511 John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them who believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. For thousands of years prophets told about the coming Messiah. Expectations ran high about what kind of person He would be and what He would do when He arrived. Yet when He arrived no one believed He was their Messiah. Yet, the promise is that whoever accepted Him as their Messiah, received power to become children of God. As Christians, you didn’t accept Jesus as Savior and Lord through an act of the flesh. Satan did everything he could to prevent your salvation. Instead, it was through the power of the Holy Spirit you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. The power the Holy Spirit provided when salvation coursed through you and gave you a new lease on life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. You are a new person in Jesus Christ. Everything you knew before is gone, behind you. Satan will tempt you with your past, but with help from the Holy Spirit, you can leave it behind and walk in the newness of life in Jesus Christ. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your Holy Spirit that helps me be new in You. Help me see Satan’s temptations and resist them as I walk in the life You gave me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Those changes continue over a Christian's entire lifetime, on this earth. Yet, Satan constantly attacks believers to hinder their faith in the 'Lord Jesus Christ and his omnipotent power to deliver us, from all evil.'
