Roadkill!

I found this dead badger on a road near my home. There isn't a mark on it but it's obviously been hit by a car. I live in a semi-rural area and roadkill like this is quite common. Badgers are a frequent victim closely followed by pheasants, foxes, deer (the smaller fallow deer not the big red deer) pigeons and the occasional squirrel. I myself have been in two collisions with deer in the past three years or so costing me (or rather my insurance company) many hundreds of pounds in repair costs. It is sad when our modern lifestyle costs other creatures so much.

Not many dogs get killed by cars in my area. I suppose they all know how to keep clear of traffic!

The only badger I've ever seen was roadkill just like the one in your picture. i also hit a deer once but it ran away so I think it was alright. my radiator wasn't though.

They can cause a surprising amount of damage. one of my deer collisions cost over £1000 to fix!

How sad. We normally have raccoons, possum, skunks, squirrels and an occasional deer by the side of the road.
