The birthplace of Frederic Chopin [1810-1849] is about an hour train ride west of Warsaw, in the city of Zelazowa Wola, Poland . He is regarded as a premier pianist and composer of the Romantic Era [the 19th century]. He has been described as one whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation," He also had a friendship with another famous pianist of the day, Franz Liszt. The photo is of Chopin's birth house, which had a thatched roof and a dirt floor when he was born there in 1810, of a Polish mother and a French father. Now, the house been remodeled into a modern structure and is a very fitting place to visit to remember Chopin's birth. Chopin spent most of his adult life in Paris where his body is buried, but his heart is in the column of a church in Warsaw.
