Three lessons I want my children to learn from me. It is kind of hard to narrow it just down to three. I want them to learn much more than three lessons. The three most important lessons I want them to learn are good manners, perseverance, and for them to learn that it is never too late to start over. Good Manners: so many more doors will be opened for you, both literal and figuratively if you are using good manners. I got a job once just on my manners alone. I was talking with someone and they offered me a job with a start date immediately. I never filled out a job application and they never saw my resume. Also, nobody wants to be known as a jerk-face. You may not mind that people in general know you as that, but you would not want your boss to think of you that way. I want my kids to learn perseverance from me. If something is going bad, it isn’t the end of the world and you need to work on making it better. Part of perseverance is having back up plans. You can’t always just assume that Plan A is going to work. You need to have contingency plans in place also. When we moved from Wyoming to Nebraska for my career at that time we had Plans A-H and in the end we were on plan D 1/2. I ended up taking parts from multiple plans and making the plan that we eventually went with. I want my children to learn that it is never too late to start over. The definition of insanity is repeating the same action expecting different results. Never feel like you can’t change the situation. There is always something you can do. You are never out of options. You just may not like all the options that you have. If I could have them learn only three things from me, it would have to be these. What do you hope your children, or others, learn from you?

I wish my children to grow up with excellent manners, patience and caring attitude to other people. I would like them to save money and not go into credit card debt. I think having good debt like a mortgage would be fine.

I would want others to learn patience from me, confidence, and having faith in themselves.
