The Gospel is filled with exciting stories, twenty of which are mysteries. What is a mystery? Google defines the word as 'something that is difficult or impossible to understand or explain.' Here are the twenty mysteries in chronological order that will fill us with wonder each day. 1. Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that She would be God's Mother. 2. Mary traveled a long journey and visited cousin Elizabeth who, in her advanced age, was also with child. 3. The Messiah was born in a manger. 4. The presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple. 5. The finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple, surrounded by learned men. 6. John baptized Jesus in the River Jordan, and a Paraclete descended from Heaven, with a Voice saying 'This is My Beloved Son, of Whom I am well pleased.' 7. The Wedding at Cana, where the water was turned into wine. 8. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God. 9. The Transfiguration. 10. The Last Supper, when our Lord Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist. 11. The agony of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. 12. The scourging at the pillar. 13. The crowning of thorns. 14. The carrying of the cross through Calvary. 15. The crucifixion and death of our Lord Jesus. 16. The resurrection of our Lord Jesus. 17. The ascension of our Lord Jesus. 18. The descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Holy Mother and the apostles. 19. The assumption of our Lady into heaven. 20. The coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth. I do my best to reflect on the mysteries each day. Every time, I am overwhelmed with wonder! How sanctifying the Story of our Lord is, told from the point of view of His Holy Mother.
