Tired of Lettuce Salads

Whenever I indulged in greasy and fatty foods, my body (and taste buds) would eventually seek more substantial and healthier foods. I know homemade salads is the way to go, because for the most part store-bought ones are loaded with sugar and more fatty substances. Unfortunately, I am tired of lettuce salads. I know there are healthier salad recipes that do not have these greens. For last night, I made a classic pea salad. I just cooked a couple bags of frozen peas and put sour cream, veggiennaise (mayonnaise made from veggies), some crumpled turkey bacon, cubed sharp cheddar cheese, diced red onions, salt, pepper, and a splash of balsamic vinegar. I made enough for husband's lunch today. I paired it with air-fried chicken that I seasoned with Italian seasoning and bread crumbs. Hubby is not a big salad eater, but he really loved this one. He said he wants some more, but I told him I'll come up with something else to try. I am thinking some salad with corn, English cucumber, and maybe some chickpeas. We'll see.

I don“t like lettuce salad alone, but I like to mix. If I add celery, diced avocado and tomato, it is different. Another way is to mix it with palm hearts and celery or arugula.

Fruit salad is a staple in most parties in the Philippines. We also make buko (coconut) salad since there is an abundance of it there. But now that I moved here, it's a little tricky to get fresh fruits.

I love lettuce salad but I mix it with other veggies like tomato, cucumber, olives, carrots, etc. Depending on what I have at home.
