Day 80 Promise 538 John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. (KJV) You know what it’s like to be chosen. As children, you played games where two people chose the players for their respective teams. It was great if you were one of the first players chosen. You also know what it’s like to sit on the sidelines because no one chose you. As you go through life, you go through other forms of being chosen. Acceptance to college, acceptance for the job career that will bring you everything you want in life, and you choose your life partner. What about those people who aren’t chosen, aren’t accepted to college, don’t get the job they want, or never find that special someone who wants to spend the rest of their lives with them? Being chosen is the best feeling in the world. You know someone wants you. Jesus told His disciples they didn’t choose Him, He chose them and ordained them to go out and choose other people who would accept Him as Savior and Lord. Then Jesus gave them the greatest promise of all—whatever they ask the Father, He will give it to them. As Christians, God chose you before the foundation of the world. Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. (KJV) It is no accident you are a Christian today. It is no accident you heard the testimony of someone whose story matched yours in similar ways. God chose you before He created the world. Then at the right time, the Holy Spirit touched your heart and led you to Jesus for salvation. God chose everyone, yet not everyone accepts the gift of being chosen by God. He loves everyone and doesn’t want anyone to perish. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (KJV) Yet there is a real devil who does everything he can to prevent your salvation. He plants doubt and fear in your heart and mind, so you turn away and reject the one thing that will bring you eternal joy. Whose team do you want to be on? God chose you before the foundation of the world. He selected you to be on His team. God poured out His love on you and will give you whatever you desire when you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. Why do we love Him? 1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us. (KJV) You are chosen. Will you accept the love and grace Jesus provides? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for choosing me as Your dearly loved child. Help me bear fruit as I tell others about Your love and draw all those to You as the Holy Spirit leads. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 27 October 2020 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
