Have you joined in an interfaith seminar?

One positive point for facebook is that we are constantly reminded of our activities in the past. Last year, around this time, I sat and listened to an interfaith gathering at the UP Church of the Holy Sacrifice. It was a heart warming experience - Jews, Muslims, Protestants, and Catholics gathered together in harmony. We listened to what the representative speakers had to say. The Muslim speaker narrated the devastation of Marawi. That created an ache in the heart and welled down uncontrollable tears. By and large, the seminar was eye-opening. As the Jew said that not till we humanize ourselves can we come up with a dialogue. The Muslim did say that peace would only come if we truly begin to love. It is only in genuine loving that we see our neighbors. The Christians? I was humbled by the experience.

It is interesting to be in that place where religion is not fighting but rather believing that love will conquer all the differences they have in their faith.

@eileenleyva True I guess that is what would God want to see in this world. Religion is not an issue to be violent against each other.

The Jews, the Muslims, the Christians - we all had a tearful embrace at the end of the seminar. We hugged tight. I was looking at their faces, I could see the sincerity in their beings. It's like I was seeing the face of God.

@rsa101 That is true. The most hard-working social workers I have seen wore the hijab. Caring springs from the hearts of our brother Muslims who tend to the children and the homeless in the war-torn Marawi.

The pastor's neighbor is a false prophet here.

@eileenleyva I agree. That's why I am trying to stay away and not to cross our path.

It's reaching out to our fellow man that though we are of different faiths, our constitution are one and the same. We all aspire for peace and long for the brotherhood of men.

That sounds like a memorable gathering. I was suddenly reminded that we should respect every religion. Im not a very religious person to be honest but I liked what I read one time. Something like if youre religion makes you criticize other people's religion or belief then it's not good. My heart goes out to that Marawi siege.

Mahatma Gandhi once said that Christianity has a good set of principles but he wouldn't convert to the faith because of how the Christians live.

@jdbces I have not the chance to study him yet. Sorry. But I do know he was a man of peace and simplicity.
