Bar Food For Breakfast

I skipped breakfast because I have an early morning meeting with colleagues who are based on the other side of the world. Video-conferencing at its finest. Two worlds, one just about to call it a night, the other just barely awake, discussing how we can achieve a common goal for the world... not! So, I logged in to our Zoom meeting room and a couple of people are already there. Our IT friend from Antigua, the marketing couple from Costa Rica, the e-commerce manager from UK, and some blokes who are enjoying a muay thai vacation in Thailand. Then there's the local crew, us, all eight of us who are based here in Manila and other adjoining provinces. We didn't get on the 'meeting' because the couple from Costa Rica said they have a surprise for us locals. The couple actually lived here in Manila for a good ten years and while working full-time with us managed to get into the bar business. When they had to leave the Philippines for good and settle back in Costa Rica, they sold their bar to another couple who also used to work with us. As if on cue, everyone of us locals got a message. We got food delivered to us by the couple who bought the bar! The couple from Costa Rica called in a favor. They asked the owners of the bar to send us locals some food and drinks. By food I mean bar food, fish and chips, garlic buttered chicken, stuffed jalapenos, sizzling pork sisig (a local bar chow favorite... two words, pig cheeks), fried tofu and pig ears, and some cheese sticks and spring rolls. We also got drinks, six cans of ice cold beer in a special bag container that was able to keep the beer cold while the 'meeting' was on-going. Best. Breakfast. Ever.
