My back is killing me

I know pregnant women often get their back hurts during pregnancy. I feel it too. But this is the first time it feels this bad. My mom and all people I know said that I should not massage my back, it could effect the baby. I never ask my doctor about it tho. Normally i just put pain relief patch. But lately it's not really work. I am really curious, can I get massage for my back? Is that really will effect my baby?

Maybe your baby is laying in a way that hurts your back. I went to Iceland in 2014 and saw a pregnant lady in a hot thermal pool. Going in one of those or a jacuzzi can be dangerous in pregnancy. A gentle massage might help you. Please ask your midwife or doctor. Good luck.

I read that too. Hot thermal is not good for pregnancy, but warm water is good because it can make us relax. Thank you

@Cheyee For the birth I wished to bathe in a birthing pool. Yes, warm water relaxes us. You are welcome. In England when pregnant we write a birth wish list.

Doctors here say that unless you are ill, it is best to continue your normal routines - work, exercising, walking, and even massages. They won't affect your baby at all. A warm bath or shower may feel good, too. I would not use pain patches or any medication, however.

@Cheyee I know they have medicine in them that enter your body through the skin. I would try not to use any medication without your doctor's okay.

Um, I don't think massage is a good idea. Plus I don't want to advise you against something I don't know really well. Try to get a doctor or two advice.

Yes, my mom said that too. Normally it's bearable, but today is worse, maybe because of cold weather.

Here they have special massages for a pregnant woman so I think that is clearly saying a massage is a good thing.

I don't know but I feel this dull back pain too as I am preggy. But I have no idea if massaging will affect the baby.

Yes, it's common. There are a lot of myths about pregnancy in my country. Like, pregnant women should not cut their hair, pregnant women should not scratch their belly, it could cause stretch marks (we know stretch mark happens because the skin is stretching) and etc. So yeah I don't know if massage is part of myth or not.
