Are we doing our part to combat covid 19?

For 9 months now, the world is still fighting the covid-19, with a death toll now reaching 1.23 M. In our country, a lot of pointing fingers and 'blaming' are hurled every day. Surely the government plays a major role in stopping the virus? But as citizens, are we doing our part? Are we following the guidelines even with no authorities around? I see so many people going into public places with masks covering their mouths only; not observing social distancing. People are back in their drinking sessions with their neighbors... Sharing one glass for their 'tagay'. They would sit and face their neighbors for the daily gossips, with no face masks at all... It's ok... There's no one in authority to stop them and arrest them for violating the guidelines... Then... They would blame the government when they get infected. Can't we simply do our part even when there are no authorities around?

In my country there are two different kinds of people. The ones who follow the rules and the idiots.

People say the UK government were slow to introduce the second lockdown. People must wear face masks to keep them and others safe. Some teenagers in Cardiff broke the Welsh lockdown and broke eggs in the street. The police took fines from their parents. We must all do our part to stop the spread of coronavirus.

I think you need to realize that this is a virus and it needs to run its course. You need to be willing to weigh the risks you're willing to take. If you personally feel a face covering will protect you, then by all means wear one. However, it's not the government's job to babysit its citizens. Rather than point fingers, take responsibility for your actions and let the virus run its course. The more you live, stop worrying about numbers and who's to blame, the faster this thing will pass. (if it does). Hell, the virus, itself, maybe around for the rest of enterenity. Just like the cold, flu, or any other illness we've ever faced. Or, it could die out and be more obscure as human immune systems adapt, like yellow feaver, the league.... the Spanish flu.

The funny thing here is, people complain if the government is too strict in implementing the guideline/law. I heard also complaints that the government is not doing anything to those who are not following the guidelines. It's a 'Darned if you do and darned if you don't' world here.

Yeah... that's what we call them too. And some don't want to follow the guidelines because it's against their 'freedom of choice'

In our country local trains will be boarding passengers. Do you think this is a right move by the Government? In case you don't know what local trains are like in India, you can look up for images. Because of the high population and less no of trains between 2 stations, the trains get crowded. I used to consider myself lucky if I could get an elbow space to stand! Some don't do their part but what about this idiotic move by the Government?

Mind telling me where you are from? It goes both ways. If the government does something like this, then it doesn't mean you can't do anything to avoid infections. But work must not be done as in normal situations. That train could be an instant breeding ground of the virus.

@jrlcentral India. Local trains are plying between many stations. (The ones which are imp for carrying on trade) but the thing is, people have started to come back to normal life and are crowding the stations and don't mention the trains. When the Govt should have upped the ante, they have laid down their hold!

I do my part by doing my best to follow whatever the health ministry told us to do. But of course, there's always people who don't give a damn

I try to not go out much, always wear my mask, being hand sanitizer. Social distancing is hard. I do it, but people don't. So yeah I do my part. But our government don't really do it. Of course they make some policy about this covid, but when someone break it, they don't do anything. They just let them be. Policy is just policy. They still attend meetings without mask, they also don't do social distancing. They should be a good example, but they aren't.
