Filipinos over exaggerate in everything, as if we invented hyperbole and not the Greeks. Though with Christmas, we begin Advent early as the first of September. It has become a modern custom that Christmas preparations last the whole duration of the BER months.
This pandemic year, though the serenading of Jose Mari Chan has hit the airwaves, the hustle and bustle has been confined to more prudent activities like extending help to the more deprived of society. I wasn't surprised to see familiar names donating to the hapless victims of the typhoon in the Bicol Region.
Yet I was surprised the other day that Disney has recognized the Filipino, and in a three-minute tale, showed our tradition of loving Christmas, the family, the elderly, and Mickey Mouse.
From my family to yours, thank you.
We are proud to reveal Disney’s Christmas advert, a heart-warming story #FromOurFamilyToYours. While times change and people grow, beloved family traditions ...

It was a heartwarming video showing Filipino tradition. Beautiful! My feeling for Christmas has never change even this critical time. I will continue to celebrate even if there are some restrictions.

That is the correct viewpoint - Christmas continues even in the direst of times.
That is the essence of Christmas - to celebrate with the family. Do take extra care in going through the preparations. We can never be too careful with the contagion.

Our boss has shared that video to us and after that it has become viral and it was posted on fb by some other and was picked up by lical news too and the rest is history. It’s nice and heartwarming that the making of parol(christmas lantern) was highlighted there. It is quite a unique tradition we do during christmas season.

I was happy the story dated back to 1940, and it showed our deep love for family. That's the essence of Christmas - to be with the family.
Good your boss was quick to show you. Just saw it the other day.

We are being ushered to a different kind of celebration, probably the same kind as the very first Christmas, in the quiet of a manger where from heavens sing a host of angels, and the shepherds came to greet the Messiah.
Let us wait.
In the mean time, brace up for another typhoon.

Yes, makes us rekindle the past with our loved ones. I felt mushy also that I am really putting up a 'parol' this Christmas.
You have a cherished memory there - making a lantern with your father. Wow!

@bbghitte A father's legacy could be a family tradition. Hope you continue with lantern making and pass it to the offsprings.
