Chilies! Lot of Chilies!

My mom planted a couple of chili tree and now we have lots of chili. I am waiting for them to turn red before harvesting. I don't know what to do with them though. Maybe grind them all and make some sort of coarse chili paste to be added into food when cooking. Or maybe make some pickle. But they're too spicy for that. Been Googling for a while looking for idea. Any suggestion?

I love chili. It is best to dry them and then grind them and use them as a spice.

We call it cabai rawit. Malaysian call it chili padi? It's more spicy than normal red chili right?

@Cheyee they are. This one is more familiar in the village. It's less spicy compared to the red chili padi in the supermarket. Yet more spicy then the green chili padi in the supermarket.

Cili padi, cabai burung or in my state, cabai melaka. Got nothing to do with the state of Melaka at all. In fact in Melaka they call it cili padi Yes, they're spicier than normal red chili.

Sorry. I don`t have any good idea because I don`t eat spicy food. My brother put that with their sauce when they eat fried food

That's okay. That's the reason I want to find a way to use them. Lil Bro don't like spicy food as well. And I can't eat too much spicy food. I don't want the chili to rot.

Sadly at my age the stomach rebels against spicy food! (Or I would tell you to ship them all to me!)

My friend is like this too. She loves chilies. But after giving birth, she can no longer eat them.

If they are plenty, just let them dry under the heat of the sun. This way you can preserve them as dry chilies. I usually buy dried chilies here in the supermarket.

Do you use dried chilies like herbs? What kind of chili is it?

I don't know. Use the chili seeds most likely. It's my mom that plant them.

Some people hang them on a string to dry them, and use them as decoration. IThey look pretty cool hanging in a kitchen.

I like chili but I can't really handle them if they're too spicy. But I still eat them and regret afterwards.

Chili garlic sauce/paste is getting popular here but I can't take it because I avoid hot and spicy.

I love chili so much, just make a lot of chili sauce, then save them in fridge for weeks. Just used some to make a fried rice or others , it's practical and taste good also

Maybe just grind them as chili paste for fried rice is good. I am not sure everyone in this house can handle the heat if I make chili sauce.

They are! We also call them 'cabai kampung' as they're mostly grown by locals. The size is smaller than the ones in the supermarket.
