Eschatological Gospels & Kenosis

As we near the end of the liturgical year, the Gospels we hear are about the master who entrusted talents on his servants and one failed to do so, a blind man calling to our Lord Jesus as 'Son of David, have pity on me,' and today, little man Zacchaeus, the tax collector to whom our Lord invited Himself to dine with. Thus we hear stories that deal with the final destiny of the soul. Our Lord gives us chances, and it is our prerogative to restore that relationship with Him. You ready for the coming of Christ the King? We celebrate the feast on Sunday, and personally, I am not ready. I have not achieved kenosis. The baggage still heavy.

I guess we all are not ready to since if we would evaluate ourselves deeply and honestly we would not qualify. But we trust that we would be accepted because we remain faithful with Him and tries to correct our wrongs in the best way we could.

@eileenleyva I guess I am also guilty of that too. But I think in your case He may grant you consideration since you are way too religious and your faith is ever stronger than anyone else.

@rsa101 The only way we are going to enter the threshold of heaven is by being just. I have been amiss many times. Still in the category of 'Tinimbang ngunit kulang' - weighed but found lacking. For instance, our God commanded us to love our neighbors. Sigh, my neighbors avoid me. How could I love them? So you see, I need to reconcile.

I haven't been to confession. Hu Hu. If the ends happens today, I'd be in purgatory. Hu hu.

He said that he would come as a thief and I echo the words of of the apostle John in Revelation 22:20!

It's 'like a thief,' not 'as a thief.' Glad you echo that Revelation verse. That means you have achieved full kenosis.

@kanuck1 Similes used interchangeably, huh. Okay, though 'like' is apt.

@eileenleyva I don't know when a thief might come and so I keep my doors locked. I don't know when Jesus might come but I keep my hope bright and am ready to welcome him on whatever day he comes.
