The Sad Memory Of This Diwali Will Haunt Me For Ever

Sorry,I am sharing my feelings a bit late. Today is Wednesday.Diwali was on Saturday. One day before Diwali a woman from my colony died of corona. The next day a man from the adjacent colony died of corona. And the very next day - on the Diwali day - another young businessman died of corona. Three corona deaths on three consecutive days right before Diwali.None of the three deceased were from my or my friends" families. But death is death. My friends and I decided not to celebrate Diwali this year.Corona had already spoiled the festive fervour.People had not decorated their houses. There were no people on roads..There were no people hugging and wishing each other.Selling and burning Crackers were banned.People had worshipped Goddess LaxmI and Lord Ganesh behind doors. We decided not to wear new cloths. The memory of this Diwali will haunt us for ever.

So sad to hear your story. This pandemic has created deep impact on our lives It is a right decision not to celebrate Diwali under the situation. Even hose who have celebrated it is not with the same fervour it is normally done.

@Shivram59 That is understandable and right decision for the moment. Festivals like Diwali will come and go but the relationship with neighbors is there to stay.

@msdivkar You are right. We need to maintain the relationship. Diwali is gone and now it is Chhath. The bereaved families are not celebrating Chhath as well.We are trying to console them. That's all that can be done.Only time can heal their wounds.

I understand your feeling. It is really not good this year to have a celebration but hoping that next year will be a good one.

I know how you feel, this year is indeed the worst year ever. Corona ruined everything. And all we can do is pray and hope that this pandemic will end soon. Thank you for sharing your story here.

@fahmita Thanks for responding,my friend.Diwali is gone, but has left us with a gloomy memory.I remember the days when there were no people wearing masks. We were unaware of the words like corona and physical distancing. Those days are gone and I don't know if they would return again.I so badly miss those days.....Thanks again.
