Is it a good idea to take care of other cats after your cat's death?

I think it can be a good idea, but also a bad one. Some people can't overcome their cat's death and they don't want other cat. But the house is so empty without pets. At least for me. Can you take another animal if your last one dies?

We’ve had pets the majority of my life, my cats are definitely not lacking care...

I am sure they are not lacking care. How many cats do you have?

As for me, it always fill the emptiness and sadness once a new one arrived. It doesn't mean that I would want to easily forget. I still treasure in my heart the ones I had in the past. Sometimes, my sister and I would still talk about the ones who are no longer with us. I sometimes also talk about them with my husband but I also respect others who are really taking time to move on.

I would adopt again eventually. I would be sad for days first. How can I am not? I love my cats very much. Then I rescue another stray.

I do the same. My cats are rescued, but they are always sick.

I had a dog who passed. I was happy to have another to fill the void. Now, I have no pets as they aren't allowed where I live. It would be nice to have a pet to alleviate the emptiness.

I lost my cats and dog when my house burned down. It was totally heart breaking to have lost them to the fire, which was caused by the electric company. I was told that the furry family didn't suffer that they passed from smoke inhalation. I moved in with a neighbor that had two cats. When he passed we had agreed that if it happened while I was still with him I would take on caring for the cats for the rest of their days. It is the best thing that happened to me, as Bill had pointed out to me his daughter didn't care for cats and he wanted them cared for. I adopted Petey and Jonesy (Jonesy is a "she") and have turned them into house cats and they don't miss the outside one bit. They are true characters that have me smiling every day. Right now Jonesy is sleeping on a pillow beside me and snoring like a trucker. Petey ate some tomato sauce a few weeks ago and had gas so bad that his farts were strong enough to knock down the walls of a maximum security prison...if the smell didn't kill everyone first. I have taken steps to have the cats registered as therapy animals so that they can move into any apartment with me without any problems. Keep some things in mind, starting with there are a lot of people that adopt animals and abuse them horribly. Jonesy was one. Bill treated her like a princess but while I was massaging her I found where she had a broken hip and also a spinal injury that makes it impossible for her to jump up on furniture like normal cats. It has taken 6 months to get her to trust me. I would love to find the people who abused her and beat the daylights out of them. Next, the No Kill shelters are full of cats and dogs that are in need of loving homes. Adopting one doesn't mean that you love the cats any less that were lost, it means that you are honoring them by allowing another one a chance at a life as wonderful as theirs. It also will give you furry friends that will be very loving towards you for bringing them into a secure home that is filled with love and caring. If you think I have had a lot of animals, you're right. I can't keep house without furry family under my feet. Jonesy sleeps by my head at night and purrs me to sleep. Petey sleeps between my legs, and bakes bread through the night. They also steal my glasses and hide them among other stunts. I wouldn't dream of parting with them and I am so glad that I made the promise to take care of this pair for Bill. The only requirement I have is that they are spayed and neutered so I am not responsible for more unwanted kittens.

It's difficult but it's OK to have another if you don't have any other pet.
