Covid and Italy....

Intriguing new evidence has arisen that the coronavirus was in Italy in August/September 2019, 14 months ago. Blood taken from cancer patients in the summer of 2019 revealed corona virus antibodies in those stored blood samples. That would explain why the disease took such a hold of Northern Italy in the winter.

It is amazing how people blame instead of lets fix the problem. That is some interesting news. Not that its good but explains alot. It could have been in many countries before anyone even Identified it, but lets play blame game instead of fixing problem or fixing problem better than what they doing now.

This news is short on facts on several counts. First, it is only one case. Second, there are seven known corona viruses which infect humans (the common cold is one and SARS is another). The detection of antibodies prior to the outbreak in Wuhan might be due to one of the seven known viruses or, indeed, to a hitherto unknown one. It could also be a case of a false positive or of contamination by a later sample. if, indeed, there were unidentified cases of COVID-19 in Italy. there would have been more people with antibodies who were immune to the disease and that would tend to make it LESS virulent, not more, as you suggest.
