It’s time for day 130 of the Daily Blogging Challenge, which asks “What do you think about when you can’t fall asleep?” Okay, I’ll share this, but don’t judge me for it because we all have our ways of falling asleep. I’ll pick a subject, like food, animals, movies, etc., and go through the alphabet in my head (i.e., animals that start with a, then b, then c, and show on), usually 1-2 answers per letter. It’s something I’ve started doing a few months ago, and it works for me at least half of the time. I think it’s because it keeps me from thinking about everything else (work, the pandemic, money, etc.), so I can eventually drift off to sleep. The rain portion of my nature sounds app is usually playing as well. Other times, I’ll just fall asleep to The Golden Girls, but I don’t always want the glare from the screen, so it really depends on what time I’m getting to bed and if I’m in the mood for a television show. And that’s it lol. What do you do when you cannot fall asleep? Photo Credit: Pixabay.

I used to play video on Youtube. It's a vlog with calming music. The video was interesting but the music was too calming. Eventually I did fall asleep. I set the phone screen to turn off like 15 seconds after the video end.

I have a video of rain sounds saved for when I need to relax or focus on my work.

That's an interesting way. I'd give it a try if I remembered something for each letter. Though I guess I could try it with mixing the categories lol

You can do it however you want. It's just to help you focus on one thing and then hopefully fall asleep. :)

I'll toss and turn for a little bit, but if I can't get up and do something else. It wasn't always easy to do when I lived in apartments because the walls were paper-thin. So I would have to be careful so as not to wake my husband. Especially when he let himself sleep in.

Is it easier to do now? I hope you don't have too many sleepless nights.
