Our Fractured Nature

In 2013, Pope Francis spoke of our fractured nature in explaining the cause of human suffering. He was referring to our built-in defects, as manifestations of our inherited sins.
The implication of this "truth of faith" is the call for us to be less judgmental of others, so Francis. Before I point a finger to my neighbor as the culprit of pains, I am reminded by the leader of almost 2 billion Catholics to consider my own culpability and limitedness.
Accepting our fractured nature humbly and moving forward to forgive others point to the essential requirements for this Christmas season.

Accepting my fractured nature is going to be a huge and most welcome challenge this Christmas season. I wrestle with it daily. Sometimes to my dismay it wins over me. I concede and accept defeat then I start again this time with more gentleness and forgiveness of my self and of my shortcomings and of others.

Shouldn't we strive to do that year-round?
