Our Friend Thought He's Got The Job...

A few weeks ago, I posted on here about a friend of ours (actually my husband's friend) who lost his job and his girlfriend around the same time. And in this very difficult time, he is having a hard time coping with everything that comes with sudden unemployment.
Long story short, he had a DUI and since he worked for the state, some busy-bodies at work decided to make a big deal out of it and he got fired. I am not really sure about the whole story but something about a suspended license putting their clients at risk.
He would then constantly stay over with us since he is back to living with his mom. He and his ex-girlfriend were planning to buy a house before all these, so now he does not even have a place to live if not for his mom. No job, no transportation, no girlfriend, no house. My husband will hang out with him and keep him company whenever he feels like getting out of his mom's place for a bit. And there are many times that we will spend the night over at our house.
Last week, he told us of a good news: one of his job applications proved to be successful and they offered him a job! We are so happy for him, and he even offered to buy us dinner. We told him that we will have to take him on the offer at a later time since my husband and I are back to having conflicting work schedules again.
Then this afternoon, my husband told me that he does not have a job again. I asked what happened, and it turns out that the hiring manager found out that he currently has a suspended license and it is a deal-breaker. Our friend was upset because he was upfront and honest about it during the interview - and it seems like the manager was not paying attention and is now acting as if this information is all new to her. Our friend has no choice but to accept the decision as he is not formally onboard yet and they can rescind any potential job offer.
Our friend is here right now hanging out with my husband. He wants to drink but my husband cannot and will not since he has to work early tomorrow. But of course we always have time for friends who need us. And we will be there with them as much as we can.

He is lucky to have you and your husband. I hope he can get the license issue fixed.

@Raine38 It's okay. He can earn this again, the house can wait.

It is, and while he made some poor decisions leading to this, he is actually a nice person. He is not someone who would impose or make everyone feel bad about him so he can just be carefree. He is much younger than us but he already has some sense of responsibility, albeit he was not feeling like one when he was caught. A hard and tough lesson to learn, but we are rooting form him. We know he will be able to bounce back, just hopefully sooner rather than later.

Finding a job is tough and maintaining it is even more difficult. I hope your friend find a job soon. You are are such a nice friend to accommodate him during this time. More blessing for you and your family.

I hope his situation improves soon too. That would be a good Christmas gift for him. He is a hard worker and he is good at what he does. Unfortunately he made one wrong decision that he is now paying for, which he absolutely recognize and admit that it is nobody's fault but his own.
