The Gospel for today, the 9th of December, is most often sung in Masses, retreats, recollections, prayer gatherings and bible study meetings. Probably because the words, or rather the lyrics are easy to remember and to sing. From Matthew 11: 28-30 Jesus said to the crowds: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Writing this post in the hope that my daughter who celebrates her birthday today casts her burdens on the Lord. Happy Birthday, anak.

This song is quite old but the message it convey is really relevant to this day. I love this song as it is taken in the Bible and we really need to have this message spread at this very moment because of the trials we are facing right now.

I understand that the older generation easily cope with the pandemic lockdown but the millennials and the Gen Zee are fast becoming restless. Must be the adrenaline wanting to act up. This from the liturgy today, too. In Isaiah - "He gives strength to the weary, he strengthens the powerless. Youths grow tired and weary, the young stumble and fall, but those who hope in Yahweh will regain their strength, they will sprout wings like eagles, though they run they will not grow weary, though they walk they will never tire." We must support the youth.

@eileenleyva Yeah I guess they were not used to this kind of setup. We the older generation also did not experience this kind of life the past 40 or more years ago. But we had hard times experience in the 70s and 80s politically that is why we somehow know hardship. It is more like our grandparents had experienced WWII which we did not experience too in the past when we were young. The 90s to the present did not really passed through those hard times in the past.

@rsa101 You are absolutely correct. The millennials and the Gen Zee were cared for and protected. We did provide for that level of security for our children - food on the table, education, lifestyle. They are doing well actually, with the advancement of technology. This pandemia is a test factor on their mettle. They feel they are trapped in a panic room. Sigh.
