Wrapped

United States

This morning I jumped out of bed (okay I crawled out of bed thinking 'uggggh') and grabbed the wrapping paper and tape. Have I mentioned that I'm not the best at wrapping? It's not that I don't know how to wrap presents, it's just that I end up with either too little or too much paper left over. I do put the box / package in the center and "measure" from there, but I still somehow end up miscalculating. It's why I go for gift bags. Today I got the wrapping paper out to wrap a gift card. I didn't see / wasn't paying attention when picking up two gift cards from walmart the other day so I didn't see the little snazzy envelopes they usually come in. Instead I just wrapped them in gift wrap and threw a tag on them. I threw another present into a bag and taped the bag because I didn't think I'd have enough tissue paper to cover the present up. Anyhoosles.. MORNING! I had a weird dream (when do I not?) and that will be coming post haste or hence forth or good googly moogly or something...

I don't have a lot of that to do this year, but I really should organize whatever we have and put it all together - just get it done. Although I have tons of bags and wrap, if worse comes to worse, I'll make use of grocery bags - or even brown paper lunch bags. But I'm not in the mood today . That's pretty good that you could do that first thing in the morning!

@ScribbledAdNauseum Your "self" is quite disciplined ! My "self" needs to get off its lazy butt . True - and that vintage look is so "in" now too. I love the tin/metal stuff that can go with that !

@much2say I'm usually a procrastinator to be fair. I wasn't sure exactly how much time today I'd have to procrastinate though, so that's why I got right on the wrapping paper. I need to pack an overnight bag but I"m sure that will be last minute lol

Well I told myself "self, you have to do this on the desk because it's the only available surface and you have a lot to do on the computer before you leave so.." and that's how I convinced myself. I like gifts wrapped in the brown paper with a little bow or ribbon. Those are cute and make me think of a vintage christmas.

Although I consider myself a pretty good wrapper, I still like to use gift bags because it is just easier and has less mess to clean up afterward.

Right! Plus the gift bag itself can be used as a trash can.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Very good point, although I often hold on to gift bags to reuse either during future Christmas' or during other holidays.

I am also not good with gift wrapping, so I just swing by the Dollar Tree or Dollar Store to grab some gift bags or paper bags. That way, all I need to do is to seal it, write on the gift tag and tie it with a ribbon on the bag. I do try to occassionaly wrap gifts in wrapping paper, and more often than not, it's a miss.

Yep! The Dollar tree is my go to when I don't have enough bags lying around here. I also don't write the names on the bags. I just get a different bag for each person and remember which bag goes with which person.

I rely more and more on gift bags now, although I prefer the boxes wrapped in joyous xmas paper, but my fingers are not cooperating too much due to arthritis,

This is going to be a dumb question, but... Would one of those blade type cutting implements work better for you? The cheapo kind that is just plastic and a thin blade you use to cut the paper? Or is also the folding itself that gives you problems?

I am terrible at making wrapped gifts look lovely. It is a skill I admire. I also crawl out of bed every morning. Or just sit up and stay in bed and hope Hubby brings me coffee. Yes! for today. He leaps out of bed.

How lucky! I don't have anyone to maybe bring me coffee Ugh, yes I don't understand those who can just pop out of bed. I usually want to lay in bed and just slumber for awhile.

I sort of like it, but I just hate when my wrapping looks so bad.
