"Fixing" My Scented Candle

I have been burning this candle from Colonial Candles the whole day, and it is from last year's purchases. It says Merry and Bright and it smells like vanilla-caramels. I originally put it in our main bathroom in the hallway. I never burned it, and now that I have new candles, I put a new one in the bathroom and decided to start burning Merry and Bright.
Unfortunately, I noticed that the last time I burned this, I did not trim the wick, and so the wax of the candle is funneling. It looks like it's a funnel because the middle part of the candle surrounding the wick is pooled with melted wax while the edges are not melting so the candle is not burning evenly.
To correct or fix this, I wrapped a tin foil around the candle and sort of cover the edges. This way, the sides trap the heat and will start melting the sides. After a few hours, the candle is now evenly burning and melting.
One of the safety precautions that I always follow when burning a candle is making sure it is on my metal candle holder. It fits even the biggest jars of candles of Bath and Body Works. I also do not leave it burning; if I have to leave the house or the room I snuff it out. I burn it in the middle of our coffee table pr anywhere away from highly combustible materials like magazines, cloth table covers, or curtains. Lastly, when the wick is too tall, I trim it so it does not have a tall flame. I also noticed that my candles last longer when I start to trim the wick.
I also have a candle warmer or wax melter for when I want the scent of candles in the area, but I don't want an open flame.

It's good to know safety about candles, thanks. I get small ones and do all the safety things you do.

I also have the small ones. I usually get the smaller ones whenever I am trying a new scent. That way I know that I like the scent before I commit and pay for the bigger ones. I once made the mistake of buying a bigger jar of a new and untried candle, and it turns out that both my husband and I will have a sneezing fit whenever I light that candle.

This is why I stick to normal candles, but then sometimes I wanted to try and buy one myself.
