Video Chat Rooms on Facebook

I am not very active on Facebook, but I maintain an account because this is the easiest and cheapest way that I can keep in touch with my family who lives 9,000 miles away from me. If we were to send text messages to each other, it will cost them about $15 each text message for international rates. Now all we need is data and we can send messages all day long.
I was updating my phone and I noticed that my Facebook phone app also updated. I checked on it and I noticed that they added a feature where you can schedule a video chat and create your own room. You can then share your chat room with all of your friends, or just specific friends that you want to invite to the chat.
I think this is Facebook's entry to compete against Zoom or Skype. Facebook already has a video call feature, but this is new to me where you get to create your own room, pretty much creating your own meeting conference on Zoom.
I have not tried it though, I will see if I can ask my siblings to join me as I try this for the first time. Then maybe we can invite other friends, we'll see.

I had never tried this. Facebook is always trying to come up with new things.
