Roses grow well when they get rain water and sunlight. My rose plants in Kolkata are in potted plants in balcony. The orange yellow roses require fertilizer in the winter months. It is because the sunlight is very dull and sun sets by 4 pm in the evening. There is no rain at this time.

Even so the flower is so lovely it gets dark here just after five in the aftertnoon.

That is early so the flowers have to get the sun much earlier to be strong.
We are lucky though as its nearly six in the afternoon and its still light even though its been a dark day.
