Peony and rose are the only floral scents that I can tolerate. For the most part, I like the clean scent and the baked goods smell of scented candles. This afternoon, we went to Target to do some bit of shopping, and I am glad I found this jar of candle from Chesapeake Candles. And I think that I am lucky that I got this last jar at a discounted price.
As soon as we got home, I lighted this candle and I am happy with the very mild scent. I can smell it all throughout our living room, and hints here and there coming from the hallway and the kitchen area. I do not like it to be any stronger than what it is now, light and subtle is the way to go for me. My husband is more sensitive to strong scents.
I still have my Christmassy candle scents, but I am glad that I am out of my fall scents. I tried to get some pumpkin spice scented candles, and while these were not too bad, I found out that these will never be my favorite.
Before, I exclusively buy my candles from Bath and Body Works. I usually get sucked into their promos and deals, thinking that I am getting it for a good price. But since I am no longer a scented candle snob (haha!), I discovered other brands that are much cheaper and has even better formulation and scents than Bath and Body Works. It just goes to show that sometimes, we just pay for the name or the brand.

I love roses and peony. I hope the fragrance stays for long. They tend to fade away soon.

@Raine38 Yes, sometimes these scents can be overpowering. That might cause discomfort and headache to some.

That's a very sad truth. At least you found something you enjoy, and realize you're not paying an arm and a leg for it. That's a very good thing.

Oftentimes, they are not charging for the quality, but the name. I know that some time ago, they struggled and really put in the work to gain that reputation. However, I am not sold into buying something that costs so much when there are cheaper and better alternatives.

I so love candles. When I worked in the salon in the mall, I used to visit Yankee Candle just to smell.

I used to fall for brand too. But with time I've learned my lesson. I never bought candles but I like oil diffuser. It makes my house smell nice.

There are really other and sometimes much better alternatives than the known brands. If you can find a local vendor, even better.
