How much would they have to pay you?

So, I was watching this show on TV called Maine Cabin Masters. I was most of the way through the show when I realized I had seen the episode before, although that is neither here nor there. Anyway, They are working on this cabin in Maine sometime in the fall or winter, and the water temp is about 35 degrees. They ask one of their crew if he would jump in the lake for 20 bucks, he said make it 50 and I will do it. So he strips down to his skivvies and jumps in. I have been in water that was quite chilly before., but not that cold. it was scary and freezing. I wouldn't jump in water that cold for less than 500 dollars. How much would they have to pay you? I think super cold water could probably stop your heart..not that it would be likely.

No amount of money would make me get into freezing cold water. Heck! Even in Florida I have to get used to the heated pool water.

@DianneN Yeah, I was getting into a boat and missed. It was a super warm 80 degree March day but the lake of course was still cold.

They have the polar bear club here. People run in and out on January first every year. When I was a kid, I thought that would be a lot of fun. Now, not so much.

Yeah, they have that in a lot of places. This guy actually jumped in the water...With the Polar bear run you can just run in and right back out again.

No, I wouldn't jump into cold water like that for any amount. Cold water can have alot of negative effects on the heart and it also can put one into shock.

It can, but not too likely. I know some people who fell into a lake in Western New York with all their winter clothes on..I bet it was colder than 35 degrees. Pretty dumb to be out canoeing when it is that cold.

I think 500 would make it worthwhile. I mean you could get right back out again.

@Giannna Not a fan either...but I would try it if the price was high enough. As long as I didn't have to stay in more than a minute or so.

I won't jump for any amount. I can't swim, so how to claim the money then? My ghost would probably haunt the water there.

A grand at least. I'd have to take in the factors. Would it be easy for me to warm back up? How long was I supposed to stay in the water? Is there a hospital near by if this stupid act went wrong? etc.
