Far from my loved ones - a story of sacrifice

I work miles away from my family and I miss my parents a lot. I never thought one day I will have to work in a different country, far from them but I truly have no choice as we have all struggles a lot in life and my current job is a way for me to give them the best life ever. I know that without me, it cannot be the best life for them but I have to make this sacrifice for some years until I save enough money to go back and live with them until the end of days. When I was a teen, we had nothing. Life was difficult for us. My mom would wake up at around 03:00 a.m. in the morning to sew clothes, and during the day we would take these clothes to sell in the market under the scorching sun. My father would work night shift in a textile factory. They did all they could to raise and educate my brother and me. Today, we have decent jobs and we are on our early thirties. We do all that we can to keep our parents happy. Life far from them is difficult but I have a vision: a meaningful, comfortable and great life for them. I have to be strong. I have to stabilise my emotions. I plan to work abroad for two more years and then, I will fly back forever to my home country.

I admire you and your brother because you have valued all the sacrifices your parents have done. Don't worry, 2 years is short.

You have a good purpose and I'm sure that you will be guided by your self discipline to attain your goals in life. It's hard living faraway with our love ones but thank goodness to the technology nowadays because communication made easy and I think it can help you when you feel homesick.

I agree with you. You have mentioned a right word "self-discipline". I do apply self-discipline a lot in my life. Technology has indeed serve to bridge the gap, and we feel more connected than ever.

There are scores like you who have left their shores seeking greener pastures.

Yes, the greener pastures which I have sought are for them because all I know abroad is to work, come back home and pray for my parents' welfare. My income serves to give them a better and comfortable life. So, I will go through this sacrifice to give them this blessed life until we will have enough to be together again.

Thank you for your nice comment. Yes, my elder brother lives with my parents. We both always want to live with our parents till the end of days. In our culture, we have the prime duty to serve our parents and so, we always put our parents first.
