Music as an escape.

The television was tuned to the news as the United Kingdom reiterated the strict lockdown, the United States of America jolted by an insurrection, China capsized by the 3 gorges dam, and Indonesia shaken by a plane crash. My daughter shut off the news and took the microphones out and for a whole afternoon, we sang karaoke. Gosh, my daughters were laughing at how I sang 'out of tune' with even the simplest and most melodious of songs. But it seemed they enjoyed my 'La Bamba' that we hit on songs from other lands. Was surprised my daughters can sing Japanese and Korean. They liked my 'Eres Tu,' too. Music does fill the soul, even if it was just an escape from the ugly news.

That is really heart breaking. I also want to go to church physically but it's just not an option. We have to obey if we really want to celebrate that 500 years of Christianity in our land.

@arolf1988 Yes. With the online Masses, I actually hear Mass every day.

@eileenleyva I am still thankful that I can have the mass through online streams. Health is wealth, indeed.

Believe me, the timbre of my voice is diva-like. It's just that I am tone[-deaf. But with practice, I think you and I could also belt out Karaoke.

Well its a good distraction from all of the bad news circulating around. I am glad your daughters stopped you from watching those in the meantime and enjoy each other's company instead of really dragging yourself from seeing the real world events.

@eileenleyva Haha probably the caffeine is to be blamed for that. Next time I think you should moderate taking them while doing your music therapy.

I was grateful. I did enjoy my self. Ha ha. Thing is, my mind became temporarily stagnant, too. In fact, I got disoriented. I wondered why the garbage truck was ringing the bell and it was not garbage collection day yet. Twenty-four hours later, I realized I had the days wrong. Sigh.

@rsa101 Too much caffeine, probably. Ha ha. I was lulled by the music to a calming, carefree afternoon. The caffeine was contradicting every inch of my sinews. Naloka na. Ha ha

@UriahAnne I didn't know the economy is affected too much. Perhaps the capitalists are. But in my community, local grocers have sprouted. We patronize the small businesses.

It is the sad reality. The world needs love and people need to hear music.

It's a sad time this age we are in now. The rhetoric of world leaders are dampening. I'd rather listen to music really.

sounds like you folks had a great time. That's what we all need sometimes, a fun and happy distraction from the ugly realities around the world. that stuff will be there later but we need to feed our soul with happiness to face it later.
