Who should be in Charge of Childrens' Schooling: Their Parents or Their Community-Leaders?

The Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs sent me a petition they're sending to Oklahoma's Governor Kevin Stitt, asking him and other state-lawmakers to use School Choice programs to send money where parents decide to send their children (rather than 'to the schools that side with the powerful "special-interests" (Big Oil, etc.)'). https://p2a.co/Qpmc08i?fbclid=IwAR3xY5UUPAn8p-LDG8jcZdj1WrJxL3vWXuA4Q6-3ot2919IzJW36hrCS__A The letter reads, " ... As a constituent, I am urging you to support school choice in this upcoming legislative session. "As citizens living in a free country, we all know that the government rightly defers to parents when it comes to raising their children. So why shouldn’t the government defer to parents when it comes to educating their children? "To that end, it’s time to let the per-student funding follow the student. "Every Oklahoma parent who wants school choice should have it in 2021. Regardless of the method—voucher, tax credit, education savings account, digital wallet, you name it—it’s time to fund students, not institutions. "The closure of physical sites for in-person instruction has created hardship for families at all income levels, but the burden is greatest for those of limited means who must forego work opportunities to watch children during the day. And the virtual learning options provided in lieu of classroom instruction have often been subpar at best. "Thank you for the work you have already done supporting this important issue. I appreciate your time and your service to the people of Oklahoma."

In Germany, home-schooling is not permitted which I find a good thing.

I don't think 'home-schooling' is an option here either. I think the deal is that funding is going to schools that serve the special-interests---regardless of whether students actually attend. And smart parents--who naturally want to send their kids to schools that teach "truth" rather than 'the corporate powers' ideal history'--are upset that the money isn't going 'where they send their kids' rather than "the schools that go along for the money."

@mythociate "I don't think 'home-schooling' is an option here either." WHAT? Home-schooling is allowed in the USA!

@MALUSE Oh, people are FREE to home-school their kids; I just don't think they're asking to 'send school-money to parents who CHOOSE home-school.' Or maybe they are---"home-schooling" IS one of the 'options' listed on the School-Choice webpage.
