Day 155 Promise 614 Galatians 4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. (KJV) Everyone waits for something. No matter what you wait for, the waiting can seem to take forever. Paul told the Galatians the world waited for God to fulfill His promise of a Savior. When the time was right, God sent His Son to be their Savior to redeem them from the curse of the law. With redemption came adoption. So then, everyone who called on the name of God could be called His son and heir along with Jesus Christ. As Christians, you know you are a child of God and heir to all the promises of God through Jesus Christ. When you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, God redeemed you from the curse of the law. He then gave you His Holy Spirit so that when you pray, you can call Him Abba, Daddy. You are no longer a servant of Jesus Christ, but a son and heir. Do you feel like a son, an heir? A son knows he has privileges within the family. He acts as a member of the family. Yet, many Christians don’t act as one of the family. They live as beggars instead of heirs of God. When you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, God accepted you as His child. You don’t need to act like a beggar when God wants to give you your heart’s desire. It’s time to claim your position in God’s family as His son and heir. Let’s pray: Father, You accepted me as Your child when I accepted Your Son as my Savior. Help me live as Your child and not like a beggar because You redeemed me and brought me into Your family. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Adoption of sons because of the law reminds me of baptism which gives us the opportunity to become sons and daughters of God.
