The surprise prize ...

Yesterday, I unexpectedly won in one of the research panels, where I fill out 10,000 pts. At first I thought it was a mistake or some kind of joke. However, it turned out that this is true and the reward is already with me. It came out 65 €. That's a pretty cool amount. In addition, I received this award in the time between my imenins and my birthday - I thought it was such an unexpected gift from fate. Do you also have such situations? Have you ever won something so unexpectedly?

What does 'imenins' mean? As far as I know it is not an English word. I haven't won money but things like a tea-service, a huge packet of expensive drinks and food, a coffee maker, lots of smaller things, a holiday in Turkey and a cruise in the Mediterranean Sea. Unfortunately, they had to be taken outside school holidays because during school holidays the resorts have enough guests. As I was a teacher, I couldn't go, of course, but my cousin and her husband went instead.

Name day - this is the day when given names are marked in the calendar and then it is celebrated :) wow A lot of these wins, this win of mine is my first such prize.

@Gguusia You should use 'name day' in your text as the other members don't know Polish terms, either.

@MALUSE Yes, you are right, I wrote too fast and hence the mistake. Sorry, I'll try not to make such mistakes :)

I stacked up with this word "imenins'. I have read it here its translation. It would be a polite way to give its translation for us to understand easily.

Well done for winning a prize. I have won a few prizes in competitions over the years, the best one was £60 worth of shopping vouchers.

I once won a race in the school sports which surprised the hell out of me, my parents, and everyone else. It was the sack race My sack had a while in the bottom big enough for me to get both feet through so I ran instead of jumping. I won by a mile.
