Day 164 Promise 625 Ephesians 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (KJV) The world’s population is 7.8 billion people. Of those 7.8 billion people, everyone believes in some kind of god. Even those who claim to be atheists believe in themselves. Of those 7.8 billion people, 2.2 billion are Christians. Paul told the Ephesians there was only one God. The God and Father who is above all, through, all, and in all. There is one body, and one Holy Spirit. One Lord. One faith. One baptism. One calling. Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: (KJV) As Christians, God presented you with who He is. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them who preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Someone needed to tell you about God’s love for you. When you heard, faith rose up inside until you believed and accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. You became part of the body of Christ. One body where all Christians are members and Jesus is the head. Romans 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. (KJV) You have a position, calling, in the body of Christ. God gave you gifts, talents, so you could fulfill God’s call on your life. Your talent works in harmony with the rest of the body. It takes faith to believe Jesus is the Son of God and died for your sins. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (KJV) Jesus asked His disciples if they could be baptized with the baptism He would be baptized with. Matthew 20:21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. (KJV) Jesus was about to go to the cross. He was not talking about baptism as we know it today, or the baptism He underwent with John the Baptist. The baptism He spoke of was one of persecution that could end in death. Only one disciple/apostle did not die at the hands of accusers, John the Beloved. All others were martyred for their faith. As believers, you have the Holy Spirit living in you, teaching you everything you need to know. Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. God lives in you. You are not alone in your walk with Christ. One isn’t lonely when God is with you. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your presence in my life. Let Your Word fill me to overflowing so I might be a witness of Your love to others. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 22 January 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
