Day 166
Promise 627
Ephesians 4:8 Wherefore he said, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He who descended is the same also who ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplied, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
When you belong to something, you have all the rights and privileges of the group you belong to. Whether it’s your family, group, work, hobby, you have access to everything you need to participate in that group.
Paul told the Ephesians they had a purpose. God called them to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. He provided everything they needed to function in the body of Christ.
As Christians, you belong to the body of Christ. What is your gift or calling? Are you called into one of the five-fold ministries, or do you work in another area of the body of Christ? Whatever your calling, you have everything you need to do the work God called you to do.
Romans 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he who teaches, on teaching;
8 Or he who exhorts, on exhortation: he who gives, let him do it with simplicity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
You know your purpose. You don’t need to wonder if you have everything you need, or where you will get the supplies to do the work. God gives you everything. He supplies the resources necessary to carry out your duty in the body of Christ.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me everything I need to do Your work. Help me do Your work with cheerfulness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
