Is revenge a ... value?

So I was having a discussion with a friend I used to work with. He is all in for Trump. I am not a fan. I'm not really enthusiastic about Biden either, but I prefer him to Trump. So this guy is constantly posting crap about Biden. A mutual friend who is a Republican but not a Trump fan told him to "just let it rest", and he replied that he was going to give Biden the same treatment that Trump got. So I pointed out all the crap they dished out at Obama, and he replied that GWB was treated awfully, so I said that Clinton was too. At that point, he scratched his head and said he didn't recall where Bush 41 or Reagan were treated that badly. I so wanted to throw a couple more replies at him, but didn't. First swallowed reply, "aha, see, the Republicans started it." Second swallowed reply because he's a devout Catholic, "is revenge a Christian value". Sometimes it's just better to leave it alone. Despite the political differences, we get along.

Religion and politics are two very hot subjects. I try to avoid both, unless I'm in the mood and want to get into an argument. While I am natural, I'll support whomever is in office, even if I don't like it.

This is a person I am capable of having a political discussion with without it getting unfriendly.

@dawnald I can have a political discussion with people without getting unfriendly. Doesn't mean I'm not banging my head against the keyboard wishing someone would get a clue.

There's always mud to be slung at all candidates.

Yep, only a cult member would insist that everything their candidate does is 100% correct.

I avoid politics and religion, I'm a neutral person who doesn't take sides.

Taking sides is one thing, but you must have opinions, otherwise how would you vote? And how would you know what religious congregation to belong to?

@dawnald I vote what I think will make the people prosperous, and I accept it from any religion as long as it doesn't break the unity.

Sometimes we do have to bite our lip . Even here . . . many won't speak openly about political stuff (anymore) because it has become a super touchy subject. I have friends just like yours, but on social media I just have to leave it alone . . . I've seen claws come out, and I just don't want to go there.

@much2say OK, that's weird. And I have no clue what I was going to say either. Something about claws....
