Or well, the inner tube.
This was invented by M. Goventosa de Udine around 1925. I just don't see this as being very comfortable. The inner tube is made out of a rubber material and I can see it rubbing against wet skin and being very uncomfortable. I suppose this helped keep the swimmer afloat though.
Would you have worn this?

The more I look at it the more I see things that would make me say no. I think it would be heavy around the neck and you would probably have red marks from the rubber chafing the skin.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I used to float in an inner tube (truck) all the time as a child. They hadn't created all these water Toys. So, even though we slid all over them, there was never any red marks. Not the same as wearing one,
but they are very smooth

@paigea I remember those inner tube things myself but I don't remember if I ever used them.

Right? Same here. Not that I've been in the water since maybe three years ago.

@thislittlepennyearns Got in the water when i was with my last ex. He took us out on his boat and that was nice. A few friends and I might make a lake trip next month though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum we get in the water a lot during the summer because of the canoe and the four-wheelers and we go to the river and the lake and the pond and the beach

I have too many questions. I guess I'd have to just try it to know for sure.

Correct but I think the floaties we have now are much more comfortable than this would have been.

I don't think it would help keep you afloat that much. I wouldn't try it.

I considered that too. I guess it must have helped enough though. If it was something very obscure then I wouldn't have found it.
