I have the most wonderful neighbours .. and I know I am very, very lucky. I actually have 5 immediate neighbours .. I'll try and explain .. on the west side of my home it's just open fields to the horizon, no buildings, just fields .. then on the south side I have a wonderful elderly lady who has two cheeky Irish Terrier dogs (both winners at Crufts!) and she is a wonderful neighbour, always ready to help out, rings me to make sure I am ok (I'm disabled so that is much appreciated) and in general looks out for me .. to the south east is a very nice single man, very quiet, keeps his garden neat and tidy and again is alsways ready to help me with any jobs I find I can't manage to do .. on the East side is a very nice couple, both have helped me so much, especially when I was very ill last year and had two prolonged stays in hospital, my home was looked after and they visited regularly .. on the north east I have another couple, quiet and with a very tidy garden that they love to work in ... and finally on the north side, another couple again very helpful and he also has disabilities so we kind of 'understand each other' and try and help each other out .. And their all neighbours are wonderful too, it's a very quiet peaceful community, we all look out for each other, and we all help out if someone needs a little bit of extra help ... we are all good neighbours ...

I live in a townhouse... so I have lots of neighbors but I guess I will tell you about the two that are on either side of me. The lady to the right of us - I don't know her name - but my fiance calls her crazy legs. She is probably in her late 30s early 40s. Every time we see her she is wearing work out clothes (she is so skinny that she looks ill) and she talks a mile a minute. She tends to wait to leave the house until we go back inside the house, and we try to wait until she goes inside before we leave. I don't know why it's like this. She is strange. She is up and leaving the house at really odd hours. My fiance thinks maybe she is an escort. I don't think so, but her comings and goings are definately weird... She did ask us once if we had any friends her age we could hook her up with. The wierdest thing is that she tells us once in a while that the music is too loud when we have friends over and my fiance is spinning records. So to be considerate we try to go over and knock to see if it's too loud, or to invite her offer to meet my fiance's coworkers who are her age. She never answers the door. And I know she is home because the outer door is locked and it can only be locked from the inside. The other neighbor is also weird. When they moved into the house next door they were running power saws until 1:30 in the morning. Or pounding nails into the wall. I thought that was pretty rude. We aren't really sure who lives there. There is a young guy with a big yellow truck there sometimes. We thought he was Russian... but my fiance went over once to let him know we were having a little party before going out, and invited him over, and was the music too loud (it wasn't). My fiance reported he definately is not Russian. Then there is a Russian guy and his girl that are there when the guy with the yellow truck isn't there. She just had a baby (and she would sit out at the pool in a thong bikini in all her 9 mo. pregnant glory). And then still there is another guy - this guy speaks Spanish (and English) and looks like one of the growing up gotti boys. He is sometimes there with the guy in the yellow truck, sometimes alone, and sometimes with another girl with two kids. Sometimes the girl with two kids is there alone. And sometimes the house will sit empty - days, weeks, a whole month. When they are home they are usually loud... working out on the back porch in the middle of the night banging weights... I don't know what that situation is either. Or neighbors before them were friendlier - well at least the husband was. They were early 30s, and from the Keys. The husband was a dj too, and so him and my fiance would make music together. We also went out to dinner with them a couple times. The wive had kind of a cold personality and it was hard to get to know her. The husband was kind of a know it all though. If you knew something he knew more. I'll never forget this one time he was at our house and he was talking about music and all the different "jenners" of music. I had to leave the room so I wouldn't laugh out loud. (He meant genres). They sold the house because they were cheating on each other and got a divorce. There is also this woman in one of the buildings who has like 5 of her own kids, 3 step kids and several other kids that live with her. She has them all in a 3 bedroom townhouse. And the kids are like lit monkeys. They are always dirty, unkempt, wild hair, fingers in their mouth, peering through windows and climbing on things. And then there is this cute little boy that comes around and wants to do chores to make some extra money. But he really doesn't want to work... he just wants money. And if we don't have any work for him he always says "Do I at least get paid?" He uses the money to buy figures from the comic book store just outside our neighborhood. Last time he came buy he introduced another little boy as his assistant. And then there is this guy that also goes to our gym. He has a brand new shiney yellow mustang. He washes and waxes it all the time ... he loves the car. The little monkey kids somehow got inside his last mustang and skirted everything inside and out with ketchup and BBQ sauce (they're a menace I tell you). He always throws us the Rock/devil sign when he sees us. A strange man. And then there is this guy, I think he is gay, I'm not sure but that doesn't really matter. What matters is his annoying puffy dog. I'm not sure of the breed...it's a mid size dog ... but it hates me. It's my nemesis. It really tries to get at me when I walk to the mail box. His owner is always telling me oh he's friendly. Friendly my butt! He would love to tear a chunk out of my leg. And then there is the ex-vet that sits by the pool all day, drinking bear and asserting himself into the conversations of anyone else who happens to be there... and telling some really strange stories. Entertaining but you don't want to get stuck talking to him because then you can never get away. The surprising thing about this is that I don't live in the slums. I live in a fairly pricey area on Lake Seminole. My mortgage is about 1200 a month (Which I can barely afford sometimes so I'm wondering about some of these other people).

On one side of me is a single lady with two kids and a horse of a dog that she lets outside to go potty. He is constantly in my yard and that drives me insane. The other side is a couple...an odd couple. She is about 50 and she is like 25. They have one son, 8. He is hyperactive and is always coming over because he is bored. His mother ignores him for the most part. I feel sorry for him because there aren't any kids his age close to play with.

I'm on a council estate, so I have a mum and two noisy boys one side and a family with 4 kids and 4 dogs the other side. The mum of the boys is always hanging out the window chatting or in the summer she sits out frount with usually half the street! she knows everyone and evrything which goes on in our road.... Her boys... well, it F...ing every other word that comes out of their mouths! lovely to listen too! The family the other side are not too bad the dogs are noiser than the kids but at least they will go out and try to keep them quiet... I keep myself to myself.... anyone want to swap houses with me??

Mine are pleasant enough, but keep themselves to thenmselves, which is how I tend to like it. I wouldn't want people walking in and out all day! They are a couple in their 40's (same as us), - one son who just got married, and lives locally, and a daughter at Uni. who ony comes home at holidays. They are always pleasant, and speak, but not close friendsa or anything.

My neighbors are pretty much the same. They are very curious about what I am doing but sometimes I feel like they are jealous of me because it is just me and my daughter in my house while they are all piled three and four families in one house. I've tried to get to know them and the neighbor kids because it seems to me like it is safer for the community to know each other but so far no good.

since i moved to the country i noticed the difference . my neighbours are very friendly and would help you out if you had a problem.they are also my customers so i dont socialise with them . i cant have it both ways. i myself am quite a reserved neighbour. i dont "drop in" on people for a chat. if i meet them i,ll chat and i,m on good terms with all of them but thats it. in ireland older people are always going for a "ceili" as we call it. thats a visit by the way, lol.

They are alright. We don't communicate much, and sometimes, we argue over matters. But mostly we do not have any kind of touch. They mind their own business, and we mind our own.

Hmmm my neighbors are all different. There are alot of guys who just sits at one of their pals porch and laugh out loud and call me by Miss whenever i pass by all the time. I have dozens of kids too who likes to play in front of my gate because they also liek to tease my dog who loves watching them play from the gate. I hear their voices all the time calling "Migo, Migo, migo" which is the name if my dog. basically, my neighbors and my neighborhood is a fun filled noisy one.:)

One side the neighbours are lovely unfortunately there house is on the market i will so miss them! The other side not so nice they have caused quite a few problems with moving boundary lines of our property quite sneakily and genuinely making life difficult at times not jut for us i ould add but for other people in the road. If they meet you beware of the smiles as it usually means they are up to something!
