What do you think about Chinese New Year celebrations? Two days away is Chinese New Year. On Chinese New Year's eve, my mom would make lots of food to eat together. The next day, we would go to the temple to pray and then visit other members of our family. Adults would give a red envelope usually called angpao to children. There are money inside angpao. I'm really looking forward to the day.
What about your place? Does anyone celebrate Chinese New Year at your place?

Yes, we have our China town that during their new year their place is visited by many. Even in malls the decoration or the background is the athmosphere of Chinese new year because of lanterns and colorful red confetti and ribbons. The people even not Chinese are so happy watching the dancing dragons. There are also those who follow their beliefs hoping they will receive bounty.

We don't celebrate it but it is a holiday in my place. I know the Chinese in the neighborhood will have their celebration this coming Friday. Although I think since we are still in the middle of a pandemic there is a limited options that you can do. Large social gatherings are not allowed yet in my place. So I guess the celebration will not be as grand as it used to be.

we always receive tikoy (i think it's called Nian gao) from our filipino-chinese neighbor.
we slice it and fry it in egg.
i always have a stock of red angpao envelopes.
i prefer using it when giving cash gifts for christmas, birthdays, graduations, etc.
