Lea Salonga, the original Kim of Miss Saigon, is Filipino. She makes it to NBC News because she needs to tell that Asian Lives matter.
Blatant cases of xenophobia started last year when the pandemia hit. Europeans and Americans were quick to blame the Chinese for the novel coronavirus that compelled people to go on a lockdown.
I blame the Communist Party of China for not disclosing the severity of the outbreak but the ordinary Chinese were also casualties.
Asia is the largest continent. But it is not excusive to China.
Japanese, Koreans, Indians, Burmese, Laotians, Vietnamese, Indonesians, Malaysians, Taiwanese, Hongkongers, Singaporeans, Filipinos, Jews et al are Asians also.
Xenophobia is never right.
Videos of attacks on Asian Americans, including against an 84-year-old man who died after being shoved to the ground, are sparking outrage and calls for acti...

Ever since someone thought lockdowns were a good idea, some people have been looking for an excuse to start a fight. Pointing fingers at anything they could think of. It's a sad reality.

Communist China did put Wuhan in a lockdown first because they couldn't contain the morbidity and the mortality.

@kaylachan The nature of the virus is to prey on humans. Had the humans yielded soon enough, the virus would not have mutated. Now this pandemia will linger six or seven more years. Gosh!

@rheicel Come to think of it, the Filipinos are the most welcoming of races. We are forever hospitable and amiable. We traded properly with Li Ma Hong and allowed the chinky-eyed Chinese conduct their businesses in our ports. We allowed the turban-headed Bumbay from India to finance our variety stores. We opened our doors to to the Jews when they were rejected by every country during the second world war. The Japanese made recompense and we patronized their Toyota. The Americans tried to fool us by saying they granted us independence though they know we won it by ourselves and yet we allowed them to use the bases. The Koreans sought shelter in our islands the past decade and now Pinoy sings K-pop.
The whole world is annoying except the Filipino.

Three reasons to be sly and slick. Learn martial arts so you can defend your self. Try to run, too, so you can first get away from the xenophobes.

@eileenleyva Yes that is the better term. I was expecting you to say that in the end good will prevail.

Heartbreaking scene. The people are upset, bored, stressed with what is going on around because of the pandemic. Their hate is building up and so is looking for way to burst. There are ways to release build up and why not outpour compassion.

Only the opinionated and the unruly misbehaved. Rest of the 7 billion population of the world listened and obeyed. Shelter-in-place was for the benefit of every human. Why throw tantrums? Why become xenophobic?
You are correct, the frontliners outpoured compassion. Should have been the case for everyone.
