Day 186
Promise 648
1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
Many people live their lives one day at a time without expectation of the road ahead. One day is the same as the one before and will be the same as the day to follow.
Paul told the Thessalonian believers they were to live with their eyes open. They knew their future wasn’t the same as the day before when they walked in darkness. They walked in the light of God’s truth with their armor in place. Girded with the breastplate of faith and the helmet of salvation, their hope lay not in God’s wrath, but in eternal life through Jesus Christ, their Lord.
As Christians, your hope is the same. You should wear the breastplate of faith and the helmet of salvation all the time. Your hope is not in the world that wants to drag you down, but it’s found in Jesus Christ.
When you see the world around you falling into the abyss of Satan’s schemes, you need God’s armor. You need to remain sober, aware of Satan’s plans. Your hope isn’t in the world, it’s in Jesus Christ. You need to wear the breastplate of faith and the helmet of salvation. They will keep you grounded in the Word. Yet, don’t neglect the other parts of the armor. Don’t go into the world half-dressed.
Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
When you face the day with the hope of your salvation planted in your heart and mind, Satan won’t stand a chance against you.
Let’s pray: Father, my hope lies in Your Word. Help me face the world every day in Your armor. Keep my eyes open to Your truth with the sword of the Spirit firmly gripped in my hand. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

I've always enjoyed this analogy of how to protect ourselves in this evil world.

@just4him It's a blustery, rainy day here in Florida. Today I'm going to arm myself with the shield of raincoat and the helmet of umbrella. And then pray that God keeps me and everyone else safe in this nasty weather.

@moffittjc Amen brother! Stay safe and warm on this blustery day.
I'm going to wear the shield of a warm winter jacket, boots, and hat. Oh and mittens. It's cold 0 with a -13 wind chill. I need to leave to do laundry. It snowed last night and expecting more today.
