A police officer in Kentucky shows compassion for a motorist in trouble

Even though I never served in law enforcement before in my lifetime, I know how a police officer goes through based on some television shows that deal with police officers engaging in a high speed chase that takes a long time to come to a conclusion. Latrice Curry (I doubt that she is related to basketball star Stephen Curry) had fled her home in Hodgenville Kentucky to flee her relationship with her husband whom she has having a fight with fled the home before the police arrived to settle the dispute. The chase began when a deputy followed Latrice who out of fear fled the area and traveled through two counties being chased by several police officers before she gave up by pulling up in a Hodgenville parking lot surrounded by several police officers. Normally after a long chase by police officers, an officer would think that the driver of the auto would have a weapon on his or her possession to use on the police officer. Latrice at the time when the chase ended was scared and trembling at the sight of Chief James Richardson who knew that Latrice was sorry for what she did. Chief Richardson gave Latrice a hug to calm her down before she was taken into custody on fleeing police, traffic violations and endangerment. My admiration of Chief Richardson for showing compassion to a motorist.

It is nice to show compassion without any returns.

You are right since the police officer did a wonderful act of giving the driver a hug to calm her down.

Why were they chasing her to begin with, are you not allowed to flee an abusive spouse?

I think that Curry acted in fear of her husband and decided to flee the scene and away from the police since her mind was not right at that time of the pursuit.

Now that is wonderful and not something I would have expected from a police officer

That is true since most police officers would be fearful that the person behind the wheel could be armed at the time of the end of the chase.

He did a great thing to help calm her down. I wonder if he knew why she was fleeing, maybe why he knew to calm her down. Great story.

The police officer probably knew what was wrong since Latice was trembling with fear by the time she stopped the chase.

Chief Richardson is definitely in the minority. Most police officers would have her lie on the ground and cuff her.

You are right since most police officers are angry that they had to chase down a suspect.
