Day 191
Promise 653
1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause, I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
People love when others show them mercy and patience. No one is perfect so mercy and patience is something we all need.
Paul had just told Timothy, he was the worst sinner, yet knowing he was the worst made him grateful for God’s mercy and patience.
As Christians, you need God’s mercy and patience. You need forgiveness every day. Your thoughts and actions don’t always line up with a person’s preconceived notion of what a Christian is and how they should act. When you do something un-Christian, you need to let the person know your actions weren’t good and ask for forgiveness. If they forgive you, wonderful. If they don’t, you know God will. His mercy and patience with you are much more than some of the people you know. At the same time, you should show the same mercy and patience to everyone. When you do, others will forgive you and your relationships and friendships will be back on track.
Let’s pray: Father, help me be merciful and patient with those around me, knowing I am far from perfect. Help me forgive even as I am forgiven by You when I sin. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Same as do unto others what you want them to do unto you. Show love, mercy and patience to others and you will receive the same from others. The Almighty has given us and has shown us his mercy when he gave his only begotten son to us to save us from our sins. Be patient with all trials we are facing because God is testing our faith.
